Torsanlorenzo International Prize 2011
 

At 08.15 a.m., on the 20th of April 2011 at Fiera di Genova, in occasion of Euroflora, the following members of the Jury are present:

The members elect as President of the Jury: VIRGINIA LABORANTI.
 
The Jury decides to accept all the submitted projects.
 
The Jury decides to move the projects 16B and 30B to section A and the project 23B to section C.

Following the sequence of votes, the following projects are the winners:
  
 
SECTION A ‑ LANDSCAPE DESIGN IN TRANSFORMATION OF THE TERRITORY
Actions for environment restoration, renewal and recovery
 
1st Prize: Tangsham Nanhu Central Landscape Design, Tangsham City, Hebei Province, China
 
Interesting example of transformation through a sustainable reclamation of the entire environment.
 
2nd Prize: Bath and community building Camaraderies, Seklerland, Romania
 
Project interesting for its participation of the local volunteer work from handcraft skills, materials, accommodation or food and prayer and performed with respect of nature's features and treasures.
 
Honorary mention: Restoration of an historical Barco of Seventeenth century and its unique garden, Ariccia (Rome), Italy
 
The project combines the theme of the architectural restoration with that of environmental recovery, without altering the essence of the place.
 

SECTION B ‑ URBAN GREEN SPACES
The quality of projects in cities: squares, neighbourhood green spaces, urban and private parks

1st Prize:
Centennial park in Chapulco Lagoon, Puebla, Mexico
 
The project enhances an intervention of recovery of a lake which produces beneficial effects from an environmental and landscape point of view. It facilitate the green education.
 
2nd Prize: The Reinterpreted Mediterranean Landscape ‑ Outdoor and indoor spaces for a Cardiochirurgical Hospital, AHI American Heart Institute, Nicosia, Cyprus

The project is considered both for its simplicity and for its artistic sense. It is in perfect harmony with the surrounding landscape and the fina! users of the building.
 

SECTION C: PRIVATE GARDENS IN CITIES AND SUBURBS
 
1st Prize: Born in a wave, Zapallar, Chile
 
The project is impressive for its beauty at first sight as well as for the varieties in the choice of plants. It succeeds in creating a dialogue between the garden itself and the surrounding landscape.
 
2nd Prize: Cliff roof garden, Rijeka, Croatia
 
The project masters green roof techniques. It offers a contemporary solution of a hanging garden in a complicated site.
 
 
Envelopes with secret data are opened and verified and the winners officially declared.
