Dutch Lily Days officially opened at Van den Bos Flowerbulbs

Honselersdijk, May 25, 2011

In the presence of the mayor of the municipality of Westland the starting shot sounded for the ‘Dutch Lily Days’ at Van den Bos Flowerbulbs in Honselersdijk on Monday evening. Fifteen participating companies opened their doors for a week to national and international colleagues during the ‘Dutch Lily Days’.

Previous to the starting shot, Edwin van der Klugt, general manager of Van den Bos Flowerbulbs, made a speech. He not only welcomed the ex-owner, Mr. Van den Bos, and the present shareholders, but also mentioned the quality perception of the company’s stakeholders and the link between the expected and experienced quality. Through cooperation the joining of forces with the ‘Dutch Lily Days’ is a token that the lily trade can work on quality improvement and consequently improve the image of the lily. At the same time Van den Bos Flowerbulbs is presently working on the renewal of the company style, so that the expectation of the quality connects better with the experienced quality in bulbs and corms again.

Subsequently mayor Van der Tak went into the cooperation and recognition in one of the world’s most important markets: China. China figures in the top three of the world’s countries, but still has a lot to learn in the green sector. Amongst other things, by means of the used ‘hub-strategy’, the Netherlands, with the greenportsector, can contribute considerably to the development of horticulture in China. In the Netherlands this greenport represents an export value of more than 15 billion Euros, making this the second mainport, but yet ramains under development and with many things to do. According to Van der Tak, the strength of an enterprise lies principally in showing the added value,. The ‘Dutch Lily Days’ are an excellent example for this. It is done by forming a collective and showing our trade on which quality and passion our lilyworld floats. It is no coincidence why Van den Bos Flowerbulbs launches their new style with the slogan “Where passion comes to bloom” together with the opening of the ‘Dutch Lily Days’.

After the speeches the opening ceremony of the ‘Dutch Lily Days’ at Van den Bos was carried out both by mayor Van der Tak and Edwin van der Klugt and the new website and the new company style of Van den Bos Flowerbulbs were herewith revealed.

The ‘Dutch Lily Days’ last until May 28, to be visited daily from 10.00 to 17.00 hrs. More information can be found on the general website www.dutchlilydays.com and the website of Van den Bos Flowerbulbs: www.vandenbos.com
