Innovations bask in limelight at Horti Fair 2011

NEW: VOTING FOR PRESS AWARD BESIDES HORTI FAIR INNOVATION AWARD

Aalsmeer, 9 September 2011 “Horti Fair participants with new products and services can compete not only for the celebrated and prestigious Horti Fair Innovation Award this year, but also for the new Press Award. This Press Award for the most impressive innovation at the Horti Fair is conferred by representatives of important horticultural journals from the Netherlands and elsewhere. Both prizes will be presented after the close of the first day of the trade show and that is before the Horti Dinner in the Amsterdam RAI on the evening of Tuesday 1 November. “This means that innovations being launched by participant companies have even more opportunities of basking in the limelight this year,” says Horti Fair director Frans-Peter Dechering.

New: voting for Horti Fair Press Award
The presentation of the Horti Fair Press Award is a premiere. The winner, chosen by a jury of representatives of important horticultural titles from among the expert jury-nominated innovations, is what they believe is the most outstanding new product and deserves the Horti Fair Press Award 2011. The jury consists of Erik Titulaer from KAS, Ad van Gaalen from Glastuinbouwtechniek, Fabian Brockotter from Groenten en Fruit, Henk van Esch from Onder Glas and Peter Voskuil from the Bloemenkrant. International members of the jury are Heinrich Dressler from the German GB Das Magazin für Zierpflanzenbau, Linda Kaluzny-Pinon from the French Culture Legumière and Steven Vale from the British Commercial Greenhouse Grower. The winner of the Press Award will be announced after the close of the first day of the fair, on the evening of Tuesday 1 November.

Competing for the prestigious Innovation Award
Frans-Peter Dechering emphasizes that the Horti Fair is organized for, from and by horticulture. “This enables us as a trade fair to focus a lot of attention on innovation. The climax - besides this new Press Award - is the presentation of the prestigious Horti Fair Innovation Award. All participants who register their new products on time, which is before Monday 19 September, are eligible to compete. An international jury of experts decides which innovations are the most impressive and are nominated.” The reasons may be technical or environmental progress, or increased profitability, but aspects like ergonomics, sustainability, economic importance and range expansion are also taken into consideration. The nominations are announced at the beginning of October and the winner on the evening of Tuesday 1 November, bringing the first day of the trade fair to a close.
